Make no mistake, we watch TLC’s 90 Day Fiance for the awkward culture clashes and frequent unabashed displays of romantic disinterest. However, 90 Day Fiance can’t sustain itself on craziness alone. Throughout this generation’s Flava’ of Love, sanity and people to root for are, thankfully, scattered throughout the franchise.
We made a list of people that, we believe, you can root for. Alternatively, take this list with a grain or two of salt and look at it as a list of the sanest people we could find on the 90 Day Fiance franchise. Take your pick!
Avery seems easy to talk to, funny, and personable. On top of that, she prides herself on being a great mom and is known to partake in a little cannabis. In fact, cannabis is her business back in her home state of Washington!
If you aren’t convinced that Avery is cool, calm, and collected, check out the last episode of season four of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 days. In that episode, Ash, her boyfriend, flips out on her in regards to his lackluster performance at one of his dating coach seminars for single women. Avery remains cool as a cucumber. I wish I could be so chill!
If you’re like me, you didn’t know what to make of Annie Suwan at first. You had to wonder “what is this woman doing with someone like David?” Well, it turns out the big secret was something we didn’t expect–she loves him!
It wasn’t until Annie’s appearances on 90 Day Fiance: Pillow Talk that she became a staple of the franchise in addition to one of it’s most hilarious alums!
Viewers watched intently as Juliana met her fiance’s kids for the first time. It had the potential of being one of 90 Day’s biggest disasters. After all, Juliana had barely one decade in age over her fiance’s oldest child from his first marriage. Many thought Juliana would establish herself as a wicked stepmother. However, at their first meeting, Juliana’s stepkids fell in love with their cool new stepmom. Later on, Juliana and her fiance’s first wife become BFF’s.
Sometimes, when I watched Tiffany on season one of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, I wondered how someone like her even got on the show. Tiffany has her shit together, and it’s obvious from the moment we meet her in South Africa. Supposedly, her relationship status with husband is estranged. If that’s the case, you know there’s a good reason for it. It’s Tiffany’s reason!
When we first met Elizabeth on 90 Day Fiance, her intelligence and quick wit quickly shone through. Andrei’s reveal as her fiance shocked us. We couldn’t believe a woman like her, so independent and luminous, would choose someone with Andrei’s old fashioned perspective on gender dynamics. Well, she chose him and what ensued was the taming of Andrei, not the other way around!
Loren Brovarnik and Alexei Brovarnik
Loren and Alexei remain the couple that the 90 Day Fiance franchise looks to when it says, “see? We’re normal!” The couple met their fair share of troubles when Loren revealed she has Tourette’s Syndrome. At the various reunions, Loren served as a mouthpiece for the viewers, giving castmembers like Anfisa and George a little trouble when it comes to taking their vows seriously.
Loren and Alexei recently welcomed their beautiful child into the world, and we wish them all the love in the world. That doesn’t mean Loren isn’t annoying sometimes. Sorry, not sorry!
When Asuelu arrived in the United States for the first time, he danced an authentically Samoan dance shirtless and barefoot in the airport. People stared. So did we. We weren’t quite sure what to make of Asuelu at first. A slow burn, Asuelu finally proved himself in the eyes of Kalani’s family and viewers alike by stepping up to the plate and being an amazing father. His naivete and optimism can warm a cold-ass heart.
Alright, alright, we also didn’t know what to make of Tim Malcolm at first. What’s up with his nightly skin care regimens? Is he a trans man? People asked all kinds of questions about Tim.
In the end, Tim proved us wrong and proved himself a good guy and a good dad. He won us over with his “edible panty” comments towards Cesar at the reunion and his containing appearances in 90 Day Fiance: Pillow Talk.
Danny Frishmuth and Amy Frishmuth
Danny and Amy met their fair share of challenges on the road to marriage. First, they met when Danny was in South Africa. Next, they had to deal with Danny’s father who had antiquated notions of interracial marriage (to say the least) and a complete lack of privacy.
They decided to get married sooner. Both lost their virginity on their wedding night and now have two beautiful children!
Evelyn came into our lives after taming her future husband’s philandering ways. Justin brought on a lot of drama when he didn’t tell his parents he was about to get married. It put Evelyn in an awkward position. However, Evelyn navigated it perfectly and has since been a well-loved member of the family.
Paola Mayfield and Russ Mayfield
The perfect couple? Absolutely not! No such couple exists. That being said, if you had to spend a night partying and drinking with two people from 90 Day Fiance, you know no one would be more fun than Russ and Paola. The couple dealt with one challenge after another ranging from her near-nude modeling career to their big move from Oklahoma to Miami.
